Who we are

AK Performance Tuning (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a mobile vehicle tuning, diagnostics and repair business based in Wantage, Oxfordshire. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

The information we collect

Information you give us. When you ask for a quote, book a job or get in touch, we may collect:

  • your name, phone number and email address
  • the postcode or address where your vehicle is, so we can come to you
  • your vehicle’s registration, make, model and engine, and details of the fault or work you need

Information from the work we do. When we carry out work, we keep records of the job, the vehicle, the work done, invoices and payments.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the website, we and the services we use may collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and how you arrived at the site. Apart from what is strictly necessary to run the site, this only happens if you agree to it in our cookie banner. See our Cookie Policy.

How we use your information

We only use your information where the law allows us to. We use it to:

  • reply to your enquiry and give you a quote, because you have asked us to (steps before entering a contract)
  • arrange, carry out and invoice the work you book with us (performance of a contract)
  • keep business, tax and accounting records (legal obligation)
  • deal with questions, complaints, warranty claims or disputes about our work (legitimate interests)

We will not sell your personal information. We will only send you marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

We share your information only where it is needed, with:

  • service providers who help us run the business and the website, such as our website host, the system that runs our quote form, website chat and customer messages, our email provider, and our accounting software. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
  • analytics and advertising providers (for example Google, Meta and Hotjar), only if you have agreed to the cookies concerned
  • product and service providers, where a product needs it, for example to register and activate a vehicle tracker with its provider
  • payment providers, when you pay by card or bank transfer
  • professional advisers such as our accountant or insurer, and the authorities where the law requires us to

Some of these providers are based outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law provides, such as adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.

  • Enquiries and quotes that don’t lead to any work: up to 12 months.
  • Job, invoice and payment records: 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as tax law requires.
  • Information held under your consent: until you withdraw it.
  • Cookies: for the periods set out in our Cookie Policy.

After that, we delete your information or anonymise it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
