Adam Kirkland runs AK Performance Tuning on his own. He takes your call, gives you the quote and does the work, so you deal with the same person from start to finish.
He's based in Wantage and has no workshop. Every job, from a blocked DPF to a remap or a new key, is done on your driveway or in your workplace car park.
Diesel faults and emissions problems
DPF cleaning
A blocked particulate filter, a failed regeneration or a DPF light that keeps coming back. We clean or force-regenerate the filter on site, so you avoid the cost of a new one.
AdBlue faults
A countdown on the dash, a system fault or a tank you're forever topping up. We find out what's failed and repair it. For off-road and competition vehicles, we also offer an AdBlue delete.
EGR valve problems
Rough running, limp mode or an EGR fault code from a sticking or clogged valve. We'll tell you whether it needs a clean or a repair before any work starts.
Hydrogen carbon cleaning
Carbon build-up can sap power, upset the idle and push fuel use up. Hydrogen cleaning clears it out without stripping the engine down.
Walnut blasting
Carbon that settles on the intake valves is blasted off with crushed walnut shell, which removes the deposits without damaging the engine.
DPF delete
For off-road and competition vehicles only. We'll explain what's involved before we start.
Remapping and gearbox work
A remap adjusts the engine's software so it delivers more power and torque, or uses less fuel. We offer Stage 1 for standard cars, Stage 2 for cars with upgraded hardware, and an economy map for drivers who want better mpg. Every map can be reversed.
DSG gearboxes need an oil and filter service at set intervals, and we can remap the gearbox for sharper changes on the same visit.

Keys, locks and security
Car key replacement
Lost, broken or just want a spare? We cut and program the key at the car.
Auto locksmith
Locked out with the keys inside, or a lock that won't turn. We get you back in without damaging the car.
Vehicle trackers
MetaTrak and Scorpion Track, both Thatcham-recognised and both available in S5 and S7 versions. Useful when your insurer has asked for a tracker.
Servicing and everyday repairs
We carry out oil changes, full and major services at your home or workplace, with Audi, VW, Skoda, Seat and Volvo a speciality. For warning lights, faults and general repairs, our mobile mechanic service diagnoses the problem where the car is parked. And if the air con has stopped blowing cold, a regas usually brings it back.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to bring the car to you?
No. There's no workshop to visit, because every job is carried out at your home or workplace.
Can you remove a DPF, EGR or AdBlue system from my car?
Not if it's used on public roads. Without these systems the vehicle no longer meets its emissions standards, and a missing DPF fails the MOT. Deletes are for off-road and competition vehicles. For a road car, we'll clean or repair the system instead.
Do you still fit ghost immobilisers?
No. We now fit MetaTrak and Scorpion Track, both of which are Thatcham-recognised.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. We're closed on Sundays.
