This policy explains how AK Performance Tuning uses cookies and similar technologies on akperformance-tuning.co.uk, and how you can control them.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device. Similar technologies, such as pixels and local storage, work in much the same way. Some are needed for a website to work. Others help the site owner understand how the site is used, or measure advertising.
Your choices
When you first visit the site, a small cookie banner asks which cookies you are happy for us to use. Only strictly necessary cookies are set until you choose. You can change your mind at any time, here or with the “Cookie settings” link at the foot of every page:
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the site may not work properly.
The cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These make the site work and remember your cookie choices. They don’t need your consent.
- Cookie consent: remembers the choices you make in the cookie banner. The cookie
goliath_consent, kept for 12 months. - Security and performance (our website host): protect the site from malicious traffic and help pages load quickly.
Functional
These run features you can use on the site. We only use them with your consent.
- Website chat (LeadConnector): runs our chat window and remembers your conversation.
Analytics
These help us understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve it. We only use them with your consent. Google Tag Manager loads on every page, but until you agree, Google’s tags store nothing on your device.
- Google Analytics, through Google Tag Manager: counts visits and shows which pages are used. Cookies such as
_gaand_ga_*, kept for up to 2 years. - Hotjar: shows how pages are used, for example where visitors click and scroll. Cookies such as
_hjSessionUser_*and_hjSession_*, kept for up to 1 year.
Marketing
These help us measure how well our adverts work and show them to people who may be interested. We only use them with your consent.
- Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram): measures visits from our adverts and helps us reach relevant people. Cookies such as
_fbp, kept for up to 3 months. - Google Ads, through Google Tag Manager: measures visits from our Google adverts. Cookies such as
_gcl_au, kept for up to 3 months.
Third-party features
Some features on the site come from other providers, which may set their own cookies or store information on your device when you use them:
- Quote form (LeadConnector): runs the enquiry form you use to contact us.
- Google reviews (Trustindex): shows our Google reviews. Reviewers’ profile pictures load from Google.
These providers’ own privacy and cookie policies explain how they use the information.

For how we handle personal information more generally, see our Privacy Policy. If you have any questions about cookies, email akperformancetuningltd@gmail.com or call 01235 639093.
We may update this policy when the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
