What's actually going wrong
Your DPF (diesel particulate filter) traps the soot diesel engines produce, and burns it off periodically in a process called regeneration. When that process can't keep up — usually from lots of short trips that never let the filter get hot enough to clear itself — the filter blocks up. That's when you'll notice:
- A DPF warning light on the dash, sometimes flashing
- The car going into limp mode, with reduced power until it's sorted
- A failed or incomplete regeneration, even after a longer drive
- Rough running or increased fuel use as the blockage builds
A short motorway run at speed can sometimes clear an early-stage blockage yourself. If the light stays on or comes back quickly, it needs a proper clean.
What we do about it — and what we don't
We clean or force-regenerate the filter on site, clearing the blockage without needing to replace the whole unit. This is a different job from a DPF delete, which removes the filter altogether — we'll always tell you which one actually fits your situation rather than assuming.

What's the difference between DPF cleaning and a DPF delete?
Cleaning clears the blockage and keeps the filter working as it should. A delete removes the filter from the exhaust system entirely, which only suits certain vehicles and uses. DPF Delete
Can I just keep driving until the light clears itself?
Sometimes a longer, faster drive clears an early warning. If it doesn't, or the light keeps coming back, driving on it risks doing more damage and costing more to put right.
